Violin Open String Song
Using long, beautiful, full bows from frog to tip, play open strings as instructed by the various animal subtitles. Plan ahead: the order of the strings is A, D, G, E. Change on the downbeat if you can!
Time Signature is 6/4; use one bow per 6 beat measure.
Feel the 4 bar phrases; the chord changes are in 4-bar phrases, and each open string/key has four 4-bar phrases for a total of 16 measures.
This video simulates watch-the-conductor style multi-tasking. Can you keep an eye on your bow angle while still hanging out with the animals?
Bonus Practice Points:
Improvise rhythms on your open strings
Improvise melodies over the chords
Practice double stops in octaves
Practice singing a pitch over changing chords with original lyrics “A Leap in the Dark”
